I go to the hypnotist...she charges a fortune...how do I know if it is working? I can hear everything and I remember the whole thing....and I'm just in her chair with my eyes closed listening to her. Is this what hypnosis is?

You won't know. You won't remember anything that's done while you're hypnotized. You also won't have any control over what you do (although she can't make you do anything immoral or anything you wouldn't do while not hypnotized, your subconcious is still active).

I've been to like, 10 hypnotist shows and know people that have been hypnotized. They could be hypnotized for hours and not have a single clue about anything that was said or done by themselves or anyone around them. It's really interesting... and also really fun to watch!

If you are interested in hypnotism for quitting smoking or weightloss or something, I wish you all the best of luck! I hear it really works!! But it will ONLY work if you WANT it to work. If you sit there and tell yourself over and over that it won't work, it's a waste of money, etc, then it won't work. You need to be believe in it in order for it to work. At least that's the way all 10 hypnotists have explained it to their audiences. Definately try it though!

Results are the answer to knowing if it is working. The results will seem effortless because you are doing what you wanted to do anyway. The hypnosis just helps with your will power. Those that don't have results haven't overcome their inner resistance to changing the behavior.

As to knowing if you are hypnotised...if you want to test yourself, just TRY to open your eyes. If you are hypnotised, you won't.

One poster said you won't remember your sessions. You already pointed out that you remember yours. Among the differences between stage hypnotists and therapeutic hypnotists is that the stage hypnotists tell you not to remember. The therapeutic hypnotists tell you to remember everything.

Good luck on whatever you are trying to achieve.

"hypnosis" is a purely voluntary phenomenon. You only get results if they are results you really want to get.
hmmm. what this boils down to is that hypnosis is just playing make-believe with another person. Don't pay that quack another dollar.
