According to De Tocqueville, the USA republic is an extreme (republicanism vs absolute monarchy), temporary and so one day it may go to the middle ground (a constitutional monarchy)
Who would William have to marry to be acceptable to the USA - Paris? Lindsay?

ummm..........temporary? did you hit your head recently, or are you just a special person? we have been around since 1776, which may be temporary when compared to other countries around the world, but we are not going to cease to exist any time soon. we have fough two wars against britain, and sent them packing both times. in this day and age, it is more likely that many of the countries around the world will unite together as the planet attempts to explore the realms of space. the age of annexation and imperial expansion is over, and will not be allowed to ever be ressurected as long as other "superpowers" step in and stop it. we will probably remain allies with the british for many years, but we will never be the same nation again. In the meantime, i suggest you stop watching "V for Vendetta" five times a day and get your medication under control, and do a little historical research, as i have for my entire life, and it should be clear why the US will not "come to it's senses and return to the british monarchy". we will always remain an independant democratic nation, and if you can never grasp that, then maybe you should give up on life. I may have my disagreements with my government, but i do love my country, and to liken it to the british is just crazy. i have spoken

Thanks god (I'm not a believer but not greedy for thanks) it's still a republic ok. On the other hand, a son of a president easily becomes a president here, regardless of absence of any good qualities. Well, most countries are ruled by a few top families, no matter how you call it. We better watch out this president though. Under his 'leadership' we may end up with something much worse than monarchy.

See sense and return to the British monarchy? As if that'd ever happen! I wish New Zealand and Australia would hurry up and see sense and ditch the Queen.

What would be the benefit of returning to the British monarchy? The UK isn't as powerful. How would it help the US?

Do you mean the old monarchy or the British parlimentary system?
I don't think we need kings and peasants again. Although you have a good point....

you are thinking the impossible. the Britons themselves are thinking of going out of mornachism! how about US? monarchial rule was an ancient fashion which i think will never again cover any sensible territory like USA and the world as whole. even in UK, we don't see the power and meaning of the Queen, what senseness do you happen to know about her mandates? just a national logo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
