That is not true. Doug Flutie was an excellent quarterback. he just played on crappy teams until he signed on with the Patriots.
But to answer your query: Doug Flutie is the last person to score in the NFL record books with every possible way to score, save have an interception for a touchdown. The last person to do that was George Blanda, who quit playing in like 1969.
Doug Flutie was remarkable in that he played a position normally reserved for very tall players and did an outstanding job. Not only that but he set many Canadian Football League records, too, as did the great Warren Moon.
Moon and Flutie- two underrated quarterbacks because they played for crappy teams.

Well for starters, it's called a drop-kick. And secondly, it's not that it was anything amazing it's just the fact that Flutie has been around forever and this was the first time anyone did this since the 40's I believe, I mean how often do you see something for the first time in 60 years from one of the oldest, most under-rated QB's in the game today?

It wasn't a pooch punt you tool! It was a dropkick. The difference is that the ball is dropped on it's long axis and kicked upon contact with the ground or after one bounce. More than one bounce constitutes an illegal kick and iff the ball is dropped on it's side instead of it's point, it becomes a punt. He was a great pro in Canada and wasn't too bad here; he was simply too small to see over the hulking offensive linemen he had to deal with.

They really did ake too big of a deal out of it. I don't think it was as much his fault as the team though. They make a big deal out of the Patriots so they had to make this something it wasn't. I don't remember this big of a deal when Kordell Stewert actually PUNTED, that was a REAL play. I don't remember them making as big of a deal when the Ravens punter got injured the other year and Stewert went in as the punter for the game. I think his average was like 30-40 yards, which isn't too bad for someone who doesn't practice it. Not a Ravens fan but a Steelers fan who remembers it happening.

flutie himself made way too big a deal out of it, that's for sure. he was on the sidelines celebrating in a game where they were getting their a**es kicked, when all he really did was kick an extra point

It was a drop kick field goal that hasn't happened in about 60 years so it was newsworthy.
