oh please. Jack Sparrow, he who can out haggle the Devil (aka Davy Jones , the Caribbean sailor idea of the bad angel) would he really die to a servant? Come now. Cap'n Jack is a hero and a knave.The likes of him can not be "killed" unless by an equally important and (dare I say profitable) antihero. No villain can kill him, and definitely no villain's servant beast can.
Cap'n Jack stands ready to fight the Kraken at the end and eagerly moves toward the beast as if he has some secret knowledge of how to best it....which he has never shared with anyone lest they paid the right price.
But to spin things off in a totally different direction, World's End....what is that? and why is the Gypsy Queen sending a crew there to fetch the man? I say, the Kraken is not a killer, but merely a vehicle. imagine it. A beast that makes your "death" appear valid to the mundane world, but really just brings you to the underworld, trapping it's vicitms so that they are effectively dead...or atleast dead to the surface world where everyone knows them. Why would the Gypsy Queen send a rescue group to extract her once lover, if she can see into the future and know he was already dead? Nah, he's alive and mayhaps a bit wiser from his harrowing experiences.
If the end guy (my attempts to not spoil the ending for those who have not seen it yet) can come back from his death and be known to have travelled World's End, then so too can Cap'n Jack. It might immortalize him in a way that only Disney can provide.

I don't know if he died or not... He got eaten by the cragon, that beast that the octopus captain guy had control over on his ship. Either he died, and in the next movie they're going to go through a series of events to try and get him to come back to life (he'll be around in 'ghost' or 'sea creature' form), or he lived... and he's somewhere and in the next movie they'll try to find him.

It was the giant sea creature octopus thingy aka "The Krayken" or "Kraken", whatever, lol.
Who knows for sure? But I hope that he doesn't. Because Pirates just won't be the same without Johnny Depp/ Captain Sparrow!

My guess is he was killed but his "soul" is in purgatory, so to speak, which is why a voodoo woman would be able to save him, just like she saved Barbossa. I've seen a bit of the "leaked" script from the third movie but I dont know how much of it is real, I didn't want to ruin the movie if it was the real deal so I didn't read it all. But it involved all of them (Including Barbossa) traveling to Singapore to bargain...

yeah i agree with the first answer... i just saw the movie today too. but i think it has to do something with davey jones. not sure..of course he is going to be in the next movie. if he wasn't would there be a third movie... i am thinking he is alive because he was going to try to kill the big monster thing... i guess we have to find out when the third one comes out
