i play guitar as well and i had the same problem you are having. So yes it is normal. I have been playing for a year and half and i also teach myself. As soon as your fingers ar harden, you should swicth the strings of the guitar to 8 or 9. I use nines. Write me back if u need more help or want to learn a song. I know qiute a few

This teacher works for you. You're the one paying. Talk to the store owner and tell him you want a different teacher. If he doesn't make a change, take lessons somewhere else. There are other guitar players who will be happy to work with you.

I've been playing for 28 years and my fingers still peel once in a while. I also have peeling on my right thumb when I get into one of my extended acoustic moods.

It is and its not. The peeling of the skin is due to constant pressure applied. The guage of your strings and the tension will cause the skin on the tip of your fingers to get used up. Use lighter guage strings (ex: on electric guitar, use Daddario XL120 which is guage 0,09-0,42) These are lighter and thinner which can help your fingers.

Yes, its very normal. Mine still do if I have a praticularly intense couple of playing days. So yes, its normal. But do be careful not to apply anymore pressure than you need to to make a note ring. Constantly applying too much pressure can cause hand injuries......and playing til you bleed really didn't help Stevie Ray Vaughn....he had to stop and rehab his hands.

Yes: This is because you are developing callouses on your fingers which is necessary to acheive a good clean sound. You can try soaking your fingers in vinegar, this sometimes helps. I would suggest that you avail yourself of professional help and strive to learn more about music in general rather than concentrate on a specific instrument at this time.

They'll peel until you develop calluses, then you can really make the notes...Keep practicing !!
