...if *another* one of the millions of sperm had fertilized the egg which resulted in your birth....would you still be you inside, and just look different? (and possibly a different sex)....or, would you be another person on the inside as well -- with a different soul and conscience?

IT TOOK EVERYTHING I WAS TO BE WHO I AM

By WILLY SENKIWSKY 5/8/05 2:30 p.m., G-Harp, Key of D, Slow Blues, this is a 16-bar song with a 12-bar chorus

If I wasn't the little brat five years old
No jacket running out the house into the cold!
Who the hell knows who I'd be?
But sure as night follows day it wouldn't be me!

All the storms I survived
Weather* or not I'm still alive!

(Chorus :)
If you like me or not I give less than a damn
You ain't signing my checks and can't get me out a jam
But this is a fact; it took everything I was to be who I am!

All the stupid stuff I done
Stuff that hurt and some was fun!
Even being locked up at fifteen
Was all necessary to be me!

(Chorus :)
If you like me or not I give less than a damn
You ain't signing my checks and can't get me out a jam
But this is a fact; it took everything I was to be who I am!

I'm 'ill' but I ain't dead yet
Something's I try not to forget!
There's this; it was tough to learn
But fire is fire; and fire still burns!

(Repeat Chorus :)

I'm always accused of having an attitude
I used to tell them, they ain't walked in my shoes!
Now on second thought they'd be wanna bees
It took fifty years of walking to even get me here!

(Final Chorus :)
If I didn't fail the med-school exam...
You can like me or don't I really don't give a damn
But it took everything I was, and done, to be who I am!!!...

*The weather is there on purpose, as a metaphor or whatever...

If another sperm fertilized the egg, the new individual would have an average of 75% (50% minimum 100% maximum) of the genetic material of the other one. Siblings from different eggs would have an average of 50% shared genetic material.

Gender would have a 50% probability of change, but other traits would have less chance of differences. If the parents share a common ethnic heritage, there may be few obvious differences.

Since even identical twins are not the same people on the inside, this 'new' idividual would be even less like the original.

As regards to a soul. That would depend on your religion. The Bible (Jeremiah 1) says that God knew us before we were conceived. If our spirits come from a pre-existance, then a different soul might might inhabit the body.

There are basically only two things that make you what you are: - your particular genetic combination, and how the world treats you.

You might have heard these referred to as "nature and nurture" or "genes and environment".

Since some sperm are 'male' (their 23rd chromosome is a y) and some are 'female' ( x chromosome), a different sperm might mean a different sex - and look what a difference that makes.

Even if the same sex, you would look different, perhaps very different (some siblings look similar, some don't).

And because you were different sex, or same sex and more or less good-looking, or perhaps disabled, you would be treated differently by those around you, and because of this different treatment your life would be a life of different events - in short, you would be a different person and lead a different life. Perhaps very different.

My momma always said, "Everything happens for a reason."

I used to hate when she said that, but as I get older I believe her more everyday.

I believe in the possibility that I have and would have existed again at some point. Whether from my parents or other people. There are people in my life I impact every day. I was meant to learn from them and to teach them. I am here and would have been no matter which little guy hit 'dat egg.

I would be different, I would have been different if I had brother's instead of all sisters. One little thing could change your life forever, yes if I had been someone elses kid or maybe my dad's sperm wouldn't have gotten to my mom's egg in time, I would be different.

Just the same, as I am using this form to Serve the Sacred and have spent my efforts purifying all 5 bodies from all the genetic and environmental trash. Different body, different trash... Oh Boy... You chose it coming in... Remember?
