You know how they say that you should olny feed your fish a little pinch of food? Well my fish want more. I have a total of 10 fish (2 mollies, 4 platys, a goldfish, and 3 I can't remember their name) all in the same tank. And whenever I turn on their light they swim to the top cause they know its feeding time. And I feed them more then a pinch, like 5 pinches. And they eat it all, plus the food I give to my sucker fish. I feed them all twice a day.
And their still doing fine, since I've been doing this for almost a month, and no one has died.

As long as they are eating it all then you are fine! I hate it when people say to feed them once every 2 days, would they want to be fed every other day!!

Uh.....with 10 fish in the tank, my guess is 5 pinches twice a day may not EVEN be enough! I have two large goldfish that I feed TWO decent pinches TWICE a day and they gobble it up lickety-split! For them to come to the top is normal because they are probably accustomed to your routine of feeding them at a certain time. They're ALWAYS hungry. Doesn't sound to me like overfeeding. Sounds kind of like UNDERFEEDING. You might want to even increase that to 3 times a day. Believe me, for the mob you got 5 pinches 2 times a day AIN'T gonna kill 'em!

It sounds like you may be over feeding. Most fish will over eat if you let them. If you feed once a day feed only what they can eat in 4 minutes max. If you feed twice a day only what they can eat in 2 minutes.

i have a goldfish that is 3 years old and a real hog. when he thinks he is hungry and you have not fed him what he thinks is an appropriate amount of food he picks up gravel and spits it at the glass until you give him more. we won this fish at the fair and it is about 10 inches long now and has even ate all his tank mates.

Keep doing what your doing if everything is fine. You don't want to over feed. Then you can start having some problems. Just keep your tank clean and you should do alright.

Most fish don't really have an, "I'm full" instinct, so they'll just keep eating if you keep feeding. Eventually, this could lead to some health problems. Just monitor them closely.

You will kill them eventually. They will eat it because you keep feeding them. They have tiny, tiny, stomachs. Take a guess at how small their stomachs are and give them that much. No more than that. Trust me!
