Yes, and I was thinking the same thing just the other day.
It's like they're saying we're a subculture or something. You know ... 'It's just a phase' kind of thing. That's laughable to me!
Very good question!

Yeah... having it under Cultures and Groups makes it sound like being LGBT is some sort of club or something. Like "Hey, anyone can join so do you want to be gay today?". I can't quite see where to place it though. Family is a little awkward, because my "Family" isn't gay, its more of a me thing. But , it would definitely fall under Relationships. And I think it would be a good thing to shift this category a few levels further away from the Religion category as well. So maybe it wouldn't hurt to put it under Family and Relationships. Interesting thought, but I don't expect that Yahoo! will be in any hurry to make that move.

I think that it should be under "family and relationships" but it doesn't bother me that much because there is a GLBTQ culture and it's a group. But I don't know. Guess I just like fighting bigger battles. Though it would be nice to have some distance from the "religion" area due to the gay haters that post from there, not saying anything bad about religion but you know what I mean.

Yeah, it does seem weird to be categorized under cultures and groups... I didn't even know that there was a GLBT category coz it's hard to find, even my best friend was wondering where the heck the GLBT category was. I just found it by accident when there was a question.
Anyhoo, I guess since the GLBT is a community per se, they put it in the Groups category.... coz we are a group aren't we?... altho' I agree with you, it should be in Family & Relationships coz we all are human and have families and relationships. ;o) Oh well, atleast we have a place to ask lez/gay questions and annoy the christian fundamentalists out there who don't have anything to do but say we're all going to hell... Heheh. ;o)

Maybe if Gays and Lesbians didn't so often act as if they are a seperate and distinctive group then they would be under Family & relationships. But frankly I could care less if it bothers you so much ask Yahoo to create you your own category. By the way why not ask them not us we just like answering and asking we don't make the rules.

Yes and no. It should probably be in multiple places. The argument would go that there does exist a body of gay culture, implying that this would be the place to discuss that. That ALL THINGS GLBT end up going here is kinda dumb though.

I could care less. Try not to let it get to you. You also can't assume families means just men and women as the parents.

ME! We are not a subgroup, we are simply people who have relationships and families with people who are the same gender as us!

I agree. But I am not bothered by it. What bothers me is that the term g0y doesn't have its own space yet.
