Funny story--when I moved into my friends house about a year ago, we were short on cash... and toilet paper. So, I did the unthinkable: I snagged a roll from a gas station bathroom. Not even a normal roll, either! It was one of those HUGE, GINORMOUS rolls that would NEVER fit on any average toilet paper roll dispenser! ...Yeah, I know, I'm pathetic.

So, I'm going to answer your question: they lock their bathrooms to avoid people like me stealing their T.P. . Please, try not to judge me. =D

HAHA good one...
That is the most anouying thing when havin' to stop on the road at a gas station (some don't lock them up though THANK Goodness)

um for the second part of your Q, yes the number one thing that college students steals the most is Toilet Paper... so that makes some sense...
Although technically you could still break the lock anyways and take the TP LOL.

Many reasons....junkies like to shoot up in public bathrooms; homeless like to bathe in them; truckers like to have indiscriminate sex with "others" that may also be on the road. The public in general is sloppy...the least people that use it the cleaner the bathroom remains. Plus less toilet paper is stolen(yes, some losers actually steal toilet paper).

They don't want hookers using them. Plus, there are people who not only steal toilet paper, but think it is really funny to shove it in the toilet and then flush it a lot of times.

They're worried hobos will move in, and yes: people steal the toilet paper. I've seen them doing it.

Thus proving there are cynical optimists everywhere. If you are as smart as you are witty, you have an interesting and fun life ahead of you. To answer your question, yes, they are afraid of strangers cleaning their filth.
