Well the song Gloomy Sunday is known as the "Hungarian Suicide Song" and an urban legend had been built around it. Not scary, just amusing.

I've only heard Heather Nova's rendition, and it was very pretty.
Also, that may be a variation on the Japanese urban legend about dying after watching a certain video, which the Ringu/The Ring movies were based upon.

You may be thinking of the song the Sirens sang in Greek mythology. If I remember correctly their songs were beautiful and they would lure sailors in to them. The songs had an effect on men only I believe. I don't know if there was a name for the song they sang or not. If they listened to the song they could not resist it and it would lead them to their death.

In Greek mythology it is the song of the sirens. The Sirens use their voice to draw sailors into the rocks so they will crash their boats.

I do recall it's the song of the sirens however it supposedly only worked on males. I don't know if it had a name.
