Tires and rims first to get the power to the wheels.

I have full faith in the engineers at Honda... you do know your Acura is a Honda right? The RSX Type S needs no particular modifications to improve what it was designed to do. However, because owners vary widely in what turns them on, you will have to be more specific on your intent. Generally, this question invokes thoughts of increased horsepower though some people are concerned with today's gas prices and are looking for better mileage. Still others are so into sound systems that they are talking about stereo equipment.

You've got the top of the line AVERAGE sporty car. I love my Acuras and I am sure you will really like your RSX as well. Being the Type S, you've already packed it full of the factory mods so many things you do to it might actually distract from performance.

The best mod I can think of to start with is wheels & tires. Not necessarily changing the size. I am referring to composition. There are far better tires available that cost too much for production cars. Plus, they are trying to please everyone so they most certainly install an all season tire. I put some Dunlop Sport 9000's on my '99 Integrea and whew! What a difference! Can you imagine a vehicle that felt like it was glued to the road? In wet or dry conditions? All of a sudden ALL of my horsepower was able to make the car go and stop with ease... no slippage, no squealing..., just performance! I've been pretty fond of Yokohama tires lately as well. Everything you do will come with drawbacks. The performance tires won't last very long; 24 to 35 thousand miles so they don't come cheap but they make your ride more fun and safer to boot.

Inexpensive performance enhancers that help the engine breathe better would be an exhaust header and performance intake filter. The drawbacks.... cost, noise, fuel economy.

If you really want something interesting, have a Jackson Racing supercharger installed or NOS. Again, the drawbacks are cost, fuel economy, noise, and engine longevity.

Just keep in mind what you bought the car to do... that's it's primary function in life and it needs to do that well before you change things for other reasons.

Good luck!

The best mod to start off with would be the chassis and suspension. Improve the handling of the car by changing the sway, strut and tie bars. And I do agree in changing the tires to something better because present Honda models come with very cheap tires. Better tires will improve acceleration, braking and cornering. Do all of the above will improve the handling, but ride quality will not be as comfortable.

I wouldn't mess with engine modifications because you are more likely to ruin the performance or something else. Companies such as Spoon or Mugen already have tough times squeezing more horsepower out of those small Honda engines.

As for aesthetic, a ground effects kit or body kit does look nice, but adds more weight. If you do plan on driving faster than 120mph, then a rear wing might be necessary. Or you can get it for looks.

You can change your highlights to HIDs. Remember the more blue the highlights are, the less visibility you will have. And blue light does cause fatigue. I can't wait for car manufactors to include LED headlights. The Audi S8 has LED DRL.

You can always change the interior lighting with LEDs. Plus you can change your taillights to LEDs.

It all depends on what you wanna do with the car. Do u like driving fast in the canyons or hitting up the drag strip every once in a while or just want somthin that is quick around town?\

Your car has around 205 hp stock. I would start out with maybe a cold air intake or catback exhaust. That will give u about 10-20 hp to the crank. If u wanna go handling wise then maybe lower it and get new springs and shocks, maybe sum stickier tires.

Like i said before it all depends on where u wanna go with this car.

try not to be a ricer
i would prolly lower the car with some coilovers and make the car into a naturally aspirited beast or buy a turbo or s/c kit and have it done for around 5k with labor.

trade it in for a Mustang GT . The best modification you won't regret. It's 300hp from the factory. You'll need a whole lot of modification to keep up with a Stang.

Leave it alone and just keep it running. All those modifications to foreign cars just end up looking stupid as hell and show the world how immature you are.

imports own american cars? lol please. Typical ricer talk. lambo doors belongs one one thing: A lamborghini.

I would just enjoy it and not cheapen its look with cheesy body kits and crappy wings. They are nice cars but they dont need much in the way of performance enhancement.
