Let your body break it down and dispose of the blood.

It's a bruise, so it has to heal, unfortunately. It will be dark for a few days, then fades usually to light purple or brown, then yellow, then disappear.

I'm assuming you're fair-skinned, since those of us who are pale have the most problems. If you're skilled with makeup, get yellowy concealer, a good foundation, and something like rice powder to set it. You can do a reasonable job, but be sure not to wear a collar that rubs against it if it's on your neck. As the bruise fades, adjust the concealer colour to cover it.

Turtlenecks and scarves only work if you usually wear them. Depending on the location, a collared shirt can work but the big thing is not to go tugging on your shirt all day - it just draws attention.

Band-aids only work if you're male, and only if the bruise is small - believe me, my husband looked ridiculous the day he tried to cover one with a giant band aid, I told him it looked like he'd "accidentally brutally cut his head off while shaving" as the sketch goes.

Good luck. :) In future, if it feels as though your SO has given you a hickey, if you quickly do the same first aid as you would to prevent bruising (warm or cold compresses) you can sometimes avoid the embarassment.

Yeah, I may be a mum now but the baby got here somehow. ;) I know it can be embarassing to show up at work or whatever with a big hickey - and it's difficult to be professional when your coworkers want to comment. I think most of us have been there.

how tp get rid of hickey? it's simple. just use some worm water and rub it on the hickey spot and in an hour or so it will eventually go away. But if u put ice it will take a longer time because hickey is like a blood shot and ice will clot up the blood more so it is better to use worm water so as to breakdown the clot blood.

Come on now, a Hickey? Ok, if you must, sneak into your sister's/mother's room, their make-up drawer, look for "Foundation", or "Concealer ". This will cover them up, but it depends on how dark it is. If you just got it, a little bit still may show through. And you know how folks are, the slightest smudge on your neck, it's, " Em em em, you ought to be ashamed of yourself, I'm tellin"!! Or, run to a Drug store, Walgreen's, and purchase these for yourself. Just say it's for, wait, don't say nothing. They will already see the Hickey. And next time, get a hickey in a place where you always wear clothes. No comment!!!!!

I've heard if you put a spoon in the freezer, let it get really cold, and then press it against the hickey, it will go away. Never had a chance to try it!

One wouldn't be able to get rid of it, it is a bruise, and will go away in its own sweet time. One might try makeup, or clothing that covers it, but those are about the only options.

Freeze a spoon and apply it to the hickey.

I've heard you can put an ice cube on it. Try that and then put make up on it too just to make sure.

You can't get rid of it. They are bursted blood vessels. Make-up and time are your only options
