It is the beaver. It has been associated with Canada for 300 years. In 1678 Louis de Buade de Frontenac, then Governor of New France, suggested the beaver as a suitable emblem for the colony. It is one of the oldest national emblems.

The beaver is the official Canadian national animal. There are an awful lot of references to moose and bears, though.

I would say a moose. That's what I think about when I imagine Canada. One of those rangers dressed in that red uniform, with a moose, in the cold.

I don't know but I do know how Canada got it's name.
Three kinooks were sitting around a camp fire one night and they decided that the place they were should have a name. They put all the letters in a hat and each one in turn picked a letter.
1st. one "C ay"
2nd. one "N ay"
3rd. one "D ay"
