In my own opinion, an open marriage can't really be a marriage. It's against everything that I believe marriage and commitment to be. When things get to that stage, it's more of a legal roommate situation. I could be wrong, this is just how I feel about it.
To me, marriage is a joint effort to be mutually supportive and work towards agreed goals, keeping intimacy between just the two of you, which strengthens your bonds.
Sorry, I just can't see beyond that vision of the perfect union. Otherwise, its just a business relationship with complications.

Remember marriage wasn't designed to be this way but it can work for some people. There have to be rules or more or less an agrreement between both people about what is acceptable and what isn't and they both have to be comfortable with that agreement. Secondly they both have to have the same priorities and they have to be mature enough to deal with any of the consequences that come from this situation and be very open minded as well. To some people the same stuff applpies to a regular marriage so this is why it's not to far fetched to them to entertain the idea of an open one. So they should consider this and if they think it's for them then it may work...but remember marriage is a commitment between two people first and foremost.

My friend knows someone that has an open marriage. He's a truck driver and his wife says it's ok on the road, but once he's home he can't do anything except with his wife. Also I don't know if you watch Dr. Phil they had a show about that. That was interesting, should try and check what that show was about. It was on a couple months ago.

Contact a swinger's cllub. They're experts in what makes it work and what problems happen, how to keep safe, what to look for in others, etc. There are a lot of ppl in the lifestyle, its just the successful ones don't talk obout it to outsiders much, and we all hear the bad experiences. Biggest problem in open marrage is when one's gettin gmore action than the other. Swinger clubs tend to keep the balance.

I've had some friends who did it, and didn't work for them. Maybe u should give them a joint gift card to a sex shop or call in a stripper for them to enjoy together...that might just rekindle the romance and ensure they'll always love each other an be the best partners in life.

I have a couple of friends who do it. They've been married for about 6 years and hardly ever fight. I'm not sure I could do it, but for some reason it works for them.
