I can't finish fragmenting disk C. I had this info:

Pagefile size = 720 MB

Fragmented folders = 1
Excess folder fragments = 0
Master File Table (MFT) fragmentation
Total MFT size = 81 MB
MFT record count = 40.919
Percent MFT in use= 49 %
Total MFT fragments = 3
What's wrong? How to pass? Thanks.

MFT fragments can only be dragmented "Offline". Which means you need to tell your defrag software to defrag system files and it will schedule an offine defragment the next time you reboot. I don't believe the Windows XP Defragmenter will defragment the MFT. So you will need a 3rd party defragmenting software. PerfectDisk works good for most users.

you shouldnt have to defrag......according to the info ...

Total fragmentation = 0 %
File fragmentation = 0 %
Free space fragmentation = 0 %

you dont need to defrag. id suggest restarting your computer and trying again though if you like

Go to Run in the start menue and type /CMD if XP or command if windows 9x and type cd\ hit enter then type chkdsk /F only if using a windows xp you might have some bad sectors

u can solve this problem by using disk manager software of your harddisk brand in that disk manager u run zero fill software after running zero your hard disk will be like a new hard disk your hole error will be remove.
