Driving school is expensive and it would be easier if you could just pass the test and this question refers to MD Laws but you can give me your states rule for this issue
I heard if you wait till you are 18 you could skip driving school

I live in CT and if you have a parent teach you its ok. But there's alot of conditions the parent has to meet. And also the parent hasta take a course in drug/alcohol. Cuz anyone under 18 hasta pass a drug/alcohol course test before they get their liscence.

wait till your 18 and skip it, but practice all you can and learn the rules ,get a book from the DMV and study it

this can vary by state NY does not require it but NJ does according to Md web site you do not need driving school

No, you don't. But in most states you can get your license sooner with the classes, and you get an insurance discount (I took drivers ed 14 years ago, and I still get a discount).
