I used to work for a motor home rental company called El Monte RV Center. They are a national chain but I do not believe that they have any drop-off locations in Indiana.
The costs are seasonal and the lowest rates are generally December - March (Excluding the holiday season). They also tend to offer discounted daily rates on long-term rentals.
You also need to determine if you are planning to bring your own living supplies (bedding, cookware, table settings…) or if you want to rent them from the company or buy them cheaply in stores, leaving behind what you do not want to take home with you.
Another concern should be transportation from the airport to the RV center or, if staying in a hotel first, transportation from the hotel.
I know that El Monte RV Center provides complimentary airport transportation from LOS ANGELES but not San Diego. All you need to do is call ahead and let them know that you will need airport service - they will give you the details.
I know that you will want to shop around for the best deals so I would recommend that you go to www.google.com and type in “motor home rentals San Diego” or “motor home rentals Los Angeles” (based on which airport you fly into) and visit their websites. Most places will mail you information packages and rates upon request.
The only company I would be hesitant about recommending is Cruise America. When I worked at El Monte RV Center, We had several customers from Germany who told us their nightmare stories about Cruise America and I am not sure how their quality is today.
