a "Teenie Bopper" or a "Dumb Obsessed Teen"
I have heard that so many times and it makes me angry because thats so not true.
I just can't figure it out.

I agree. I'm 23 and I'd love to take a ride on Johnny Depp. If you'll notice, it's mostly boys who say this because they are so jealous of Johnny's sex appeal, and how he still looks so hot whereas most guys age like a worn out catcher's mitt.

He isn't that attractive, but he is an amazing actor. He's been in such a variety of films, and he really can pull off just about any role. Whether it's an author with multiple personality disorder, a pirate in the middle of the Carribean, or the crazy owner of a Chocolate Factory.. he's dedicated to his work, and he's actually very good at what he does.
Although to "love Johnny Depp" you must know him on a personal level, but to love what he does as an actor, and love his work, then thats a completely different story. If you "love Johnny Depp" you most likely don't love him, you love his acting, the characters he takes the role of.
Most people probably call you a "teenie bopper" or a "dumb obsessed teen" because people can't get past image and appearance, and most teens who watch his movies think he's attractive(hot) and watch all his movies and are slightly obsaessed. You're being generalized, it happens, and there isn't much you can do except focus more on his work than his appearance, which is what all the teenage girls focus on.
Try focusing more on what he's done as an actor.

probably bcuz his starting out in teeny bopper mags or 21 jump street or whatever has most people trained to think that he's still a part of that crowd. that and the unsual characters he plays generally leads people to think that he's never really gorwn up. I disagree however and think he is one of the best actors around today. He can get pretty much any role he wants but yet chooses to take his own path and his own characters. don;t think he'll ever take an "Oscar" worthy role bcuz that's not the way he wants to act. fiercely independant.

Same with me, I think that his performance in Finding Neverland was AMAZING and I was telling my friend (who had never seen the movie before) about it and she was all like "Are you attracted to older men?!" I'm forty-something, and I recognize Johnny Depp as a talented actor who can play very diverse roles. A unique ability should be appreciated, and that's why Johnny Depp is appreciated by many.
