I have been a fan for about 10 years and decided to become a driver for about 9 years. Now I am 17.

The real answer to this, is in fact the cult following of Dale Earnhardt. Dale Earnhardt was one of the greatest drivers ever. But the ever so glaring truth is Jeff Gordon has got there faster and against stiffer competition. It would be hard to convince a huge Sr fan any differently, but the hate for Gordon is the ever impressive stat of getting there quicker and doing it quicker than Sr.

I guess the reason I can't stand Gordon is because I was a big Dale Sr fan. If you were a Sr fan, you had to hate Gordon. I don't know why.. but that is the way it was back then :P
Back then Gordon was a prissy boy.. the only superstar in NASCAR that was clean shaving and didn't smoke or drink. He wasn't a REDNECK at all! Most NASCAR fans are fans for life. Even though times have changed, most fans still remember the rivalry.. and let the rivaly live on even though Gordon is no longer the only goody-goody driver in NASCAR. (You also have to hate him because he must have done something for his really hot looking ex-wife to divorce him..)

I don't blame Jeff Gordon for the problems he's had lately. That's Steve Letarte's screwing up...and Jeff has to pay for it...
Yes, the #24 deserves respect. Four championships and still here...
I am a fan of Tony Stewart, another driver that people here on Answers love to hate.
Just watch out for the NASCAR haters here. Don't let those jerks make you miserable. They are idiots trolling for some attention!

I don't 'hate' any of the drivers. I prefer one over another, but definitely do not hate. Jeff Gordon should be respected for what he has accomplished. Sure I would rather see somebody else win most of the time, but I don't 'hate' Jeff Gordon for his successes.
A lot of people are just jealous, bottom line.

Because it is sooo easy to do! I think you could do better with a different driver as your role model.I guess every one has their choices to make.As I"ve said in other answers every season I tell myself I'm not going to dislike Jeff Gordon this year and every year he screws it up.I just can't bring myself to like him.Good luck with your dream of becoming a Nascar driver as a fellow Alabamian we need someone to cheer for, all our hero's are gone (Bobbie & Donnie Allison ,Davey Allison,Neal Bonnet) so good luck and give em hell.

I cant stand gordon, after he wrecked kenseth and won, the srowd bood him in pit row, now earnhardt sr. was the best of the best, and gordon will never be as good a racer as him.
P.S. If u like gordon, dont hang out in missouri

People love to hate celebrities. Personally I dont care for the man but hate is such a strong word. good luck I hope to see you racing some day.
I have a real issue with the fans out there that cheer when a driver gets wrecked. I don't care who it is wrecking, these fans don't care if they are alive or hurt. It's total disrespect and it makes me ashamed. So let them love their favorite driver and hate the other one but don't cheer my GOD!
