Talk to trainers in your area, let them know you have a horse/pony for sale, some may take it on consignment, put up ads in tack shops, take out an ad on equine.com (make sure you put a picture with it they sell faster that way), if you can offer a lease to buy option

yeah the FASTEST would be to bring it to texas. they have slaughter houses there ans will probably pay 300-500 dollars depending on how muscular the horse is. otherwise, you just have to wait, find out when the next auction in your area is, and bring him there.
how can you not know if it is a horse or a pony? they are two different things.

Go onto an Internet site and post an ad for your horse - this way, people from all around the country will have the option to buy it. Newspapers are great for local sales - and be sure to tell everyone you know about this, you just might run into someone that's looking to buy! Good luck. :)

the fastest way is take it to an auction. No guarantee on who gets it or what happens to it. Same with a dealer. Trainers may have someone looking for what you have...but not likely. Worth calling around depending on what it is.

look for tack shops and riding stables, ask them to spread the word and put up ads. visit fairs, stick a flyer in the horse barn.

Try this if all else fails...
Put a "For Sale" sign in the sides of it, and get on it.
Ride up and down the street with the sign on it, screaming,"THE BRITISH ARE COMING! THE BRITISH ARE COMING! THE BRITISH ARE COMING!"
