minorites (black, indians) keep saying that i enslaved them, killed their families, and exc... i personaly wasnt even there,it was a little before my time,so why should i say sorry for something that i didnt even do and didnt even happen to you? it was f'd up,i truely understand that, but hell,my ancestors were killed by lions, murdered for being Christian, and the english tried to kill those who left. i have never asked for an appology for that,so therefore i wont tell you sorry for what happened to your ancestors.
ILL SAY SORRY IF YOU SAY SORRY! HOW ABOUT THAT?

Ask them to name one of their ancestors that a part of your family back then enslaved, then it can't be personal, see what I'm saying? Odds are, your great great great great grandpa didn't own their great great great great grandpa.

I wouldn't go that far. I am sorry for when someone is wronged. Blacks and Indians today want us to pay for what their ancestors went through, like WE did it to them, you're right. Blacks also forget the part where other Africans hunted their ancesters down and chained and schackled them and sold them into slavery. I am sorry that ever happened, it shouldn't happen to anyone. And, we really didn't have the right to steal the land from the ORIGINAL AMERICANS the Indians. BUT, that DOES NOT mean we should have to pay the penalty for what our ancestors did.

The answer to you question is simple. Nobody has the right to offer an apology, for the actions of another. Nobody can assume the remorse for another's actions for the same reasons one can not claim the glory for another person actions. For example, let's say that John kills twenty people. No matter how sad it makes me, my apology will never be valid becuase John committed the action not me. On this same line of thinking, let's say that John saved the lives of twenty people, then I it would not be valid for me to take credit for his actions. You can not apologize for the actions of your ancestors, no more than you can take credit for their great accomplishments. The people who are demanding an apology are in the same boat as you are. You are both nothing more than byproducts of your ancestors, and as such you can not claim the responsibilty for their actions. You can have sorrow, anger, or even be proud of what they did, but you can never claim, nor can anyone else claim their actions to be yours.

NO NO NO you didn't your parents didn't and they are now so far removed from the things that they accuse you of that it can't possibly have an impact on their lives anyway. It is all just political racial propaganda to keep the races separated and it is being done by the very people they accuse you of being a racist. Have you listened to Al Sharpton or Louis Farrakhan or my favorite master of extortion Jesse Jackson lately? If they didn't rile people up by portraying them as victims then they wouldn't have a job. Well what is J. Jackson's job anyway except to extort money from companies by threatening to sue them for bogus racial offenses, the companies know it is cheaper to just pay him what he asks for than to fight in court. And where exactly does all this money go? Jackson got rich somehow didn't he. Who has he given money to in your neighborhood?

*rolls eyes*...I think people who still complain about that should shut the hell up. Don't be sorry. Would you enslave them or support the torture that happen to the Natives and blacks? If no, you have nothing to be sorry about. Do women still complain how we were treated not too long ago? I don't hear it. We just take the rights we have and move on.

How about just saying you are sorry for the horrible things your ancestors did. If I could get a lion to appologize to you I would but they are just dumb animals and I think (hope) you are better than a dumb animal.

You have no reason to be apologetic about something that happened before your times. Just let the negative statements go, because you had nothing to do with that. I'm 75% french, 25 % Blackfoot Indian, and hold no grudge against anyone because of past events. I just don't want to repeat past events so I study history to prevent repeating past atrocities.

Thank you for stateing that! I have always thought the same way. It is terrible what happened, but I am not responsible for ancestors that have been dead for 100 years! Everyone's ancestors are guilty for one thing or another and people need to move on and get over it and stop trying to get our sympathy for it!

The sorry ones are the people who keep blaming others for history. Resentment is the equivalent of me drinking poison hoping you die. It's been said that resentment is main cause of heart failure, cancer, and a host of life depleting diseases. Alcoholics and drug addicts are riddled with resentments and in prison, nobody is guilty and everyone is a victim. The truth of the matter is no one can change the past and everyone is accountable for their present.
