Will rip the music, but keeps saying put blank cd in to burn. Tried different brands, and changed speeds. It knows a cd is in there when I play or rip, but not when I wanna burn. (Presario 1500, windows xp and Nero.(Help me please.

Before you replace the unit, try this: Using the Device Manager, uninstall the drive. Then reboot the computer, and Windows will recognize the drive as "new hardware", and install the proper drivers for it. Then try inserting a blank CD and burning some files to it. Hopefully, this will work. Good luck.

Check the CD burner and try to use a good CD burning software like Nero

try putting some gas over your CD and then try to burn with a working lighter.
