I will be taking my family (road trip) to California next year.
We like theme parks, zoos. Besides Disney, Sea World, The San Diego Zoo, Six Flags, is there any other places we should see.
Please include other places you find really nice. The family is 7 of us; two mom's, 1 dad, 18 year old son, 22 year old son, with 22 year old fiance, and 15 year old daughter. Daughter is an artist. 18 year old likes roller coasters. The rest of us like almost anything.

In San Diego visit Balboa Park - the Spanish Village has little art studios and there are art museums as well, including a car museum, plus there is a merry go round for the kids and a huge outdoor pipe organ that plays free concerts every Sunday at 2PM. Also visit Belmont Park for the old wooden roller coaster "The Big Dipper"...it's a better ride than it looks, sit in the back. Also, go to the Wild Animal Park. The Palomar Mtn. observatory is interesting if you're into astronomy at all.

Some other places you might enjoy in San Diego are Old Town and Coronado. Julian which is a ways out the city also might be a fun family trip. You might want to check out a day or dinner cruise around the bay. In LA, Huntington Library and the Getty Museum. Santa Barbara could also be cool if you want to go that far north. The drive up pacific coast highway is pretty.

That all depends on where you are visiting in California. San Francisco is really fun, I recommend Pier 39, Alcatraz and definitely take a trolley ride. Also invest in a walking tour. Make sure it goes to the fortune cookie factory. There is also a great red wood forest just outside SF, Muir Woods, its a great take. There is also a great modern art museum in SF for your daughter! When you're in San Diego, skip the Zoo, and hit the wild animal park. Its much better. The zoo is just animals in a cage, at the wild animal park you see the animals in thier natural habitat.
And if you have time to head slightly further north, Crater Lake in southern Oregon is the most amazing place on Earth!

There is a theme park across the street from Disneyland you could try. I don't remember the name of it, California something and it's very large. Also The San Diego Wild Animal Park, Universal Studios, and Medievil Times (a theme restuarant where you watch live jousting) all in southern Cal. If you go further north try the The Monterey Bay Aquarium in Monterey, CA and maybe a whale watch.

If you are going in the summer, check out Raging Waters! It's nice when it's hot! You got to go to the beach. I like Newport Beach, but Huntington Beach is more popular I think. Have a hot dog BBQ at the beach at night in the fire pits! Bring wood to burn and some wire hangers to cook with. Roast some marshmallows and make Smores. There's Knott's Berry Farm (a theme park) in the city of Buena Park. Hollywood has Universal Studios! If you like to shop, go to downtown L.A. or the Block of Orange is pretty popular. Check out the internet to see if they are going to have any Monster Truck rallies when you are visiting. Sometimes they have them at the Angel's Stadium in Anahiem. Those are fun for everyone! Do some miniture golfing at Camelot and there's the Family Fun Center next door has some little rides (go-carts, boats) and a skating rink. Both have arcades.

Sounds like you will be down south. U might want to look into going to a taping of your favorite tv show. Check websites for how to get tickets, most have an age restriction, the 15 year old would be the odd one out. They take up a large amount of the day but are fun. Tickets are usually, 90% of the time, free.
