It never used to do this...what are some of the reasons a graphics card (ATI x800 xt platinum) would overheat? All my fans are working properly.

U should uninstall it and reinstall it from scratch. Install the drivers and I am sure it will be fine

Hey, I have a x850 Xt. Very similer card. Download over-clocking software for ati cards called ati tools. (You wont be over-clocking).

Basicly there is a option to say when the chip gets so hot, speed the fan up to this fast.

The fan comes standard with 5% on my card. That just isnt enough. I keep it at 20% of max speed at all times. Still silent and good airflow from the chip to the outside of my case.

Basicly when your playing a game, set your fan to a higher percentage. If its overheating at 70% send it back and get a refund.

Double check that the fan on the card itself is working as expected - not just the case fans. Also make sure you don't have dust bunnies, hair balls or other freaks of nature running around in your machine.

You may need to open up a slot next to your graphics card and install a slot cooler.

If you leave your computer on for extended amounts of time it could make your fans stop.. Also if you are gaming than theres a good chance that your computer is low on memory and is locking up..

How do you know your fans work? Do you take off the side of your computer and turn it on and look? If you do that try cleaning your fans... Also look around the fans to see if something stops them when you put the computer back together.

I hope that helped you out.

maybe the air circulation in your case has been impeded by something. Maybe you need to clean it out, or rearrange the cables and wires. Also, it's summer and it may be the weather.
