It all varies to your background, upbringing, etc. - mainly your socialization. If your parents raised you in a middle class to upper middle class environment, it's highly likely you're going to be "labeled" as a prep according to what stores you shop at, other outwardly things about your appearance and the way you carry yourself (think slang you use, accessories, etc.). Being "preppy" or dressing "preppy" isn't necessarily a negative thing, but mostly people do stereotype them and think they're snobs and could care less about others misfortunes. Maybe there is some truth to the stereotype, but, all in all, you shouldn't judge a book by its cover.

I didn't know groups like that actually existed until I went to college orientation and a girl in my group was astounded by the "diversity" in that "everyone was sitting with everyone." I think people should stop judging other people based upon what they wear. It really bothers me that people wouldn't talk to people because of what they wear. I didn't go to a small high school either, I guess people are just nicer where I live. There's so much more to life than Abercrombie...

My problem with preps is that they think they are all high fashion, with their name brands LOL!
Does any one know what is going on in the actual fashion countries!
VINTAGE! UNIQUENESS! NOT SOME NAME BRAND DEPARTMENT STORE! LOL!
o man.. anyway... they shouldn't think they are so smart or hot. I know i use to dress kind of preppy but now i'm like ok that is so boring and dull and EVERYONE tries to dress like that!
