As I was watching it, I thought to myself, "Hmm...this seems familiar!" Only difference is main character is race car driver instead of a doctor!

My 3 year old daughter and I watched it while my husband stayed home with our younger daughter. In describing it to him I told him that it was very similar to Doc Hollywood. When I told him about it, he agreed that they did sound a lot alike. I'm glad to hear someone else saw the parallels.

I have never seen Doc Hollywood. I hate racing and think it is stupid. The movie Cars to me was really long and boring. But the kids liked it. That's all that mattered.

It's not like Cars was the first movie to ever use a similar theme as a movie before it. George Lucas used the Seven Samurai heavily in his creation of Star Wars.

Lots of writers/directors use other films to influence their films. It's very common and not frowned upon. Most don't do it to steal, they do it out of respect and appreciation for the film that influenced theirs.

All Hollywood movies follow a genre formula. That's because the formulas have already been proven to make money.

I thought it was an adorable movie! I have noticed that more than half the movies out this year are remakes of old ones, or are spin-offs of other movies. Oh well, it was still worth seeing.

There are similarities. But we didn't finish the whole movie, I got bored fast and left. I don't think it was all cracked up like they made it out to be!
