OK, I am a little confused.
You are on the roof with a computer? Laptop I presume.
You are (according to your profile) part of special forces training.
Your question totally dismantles your profile. If you are Special Forces, you have all the weapon you need. Even at that, you would not be on here crying about it.
Do what you have been trained to do, or correct your profile to tell us what you really are.

I don't think your roommate would appreciate it if he found out that you think of him this way...
It sounds like you two need to go bond over a meal at McDonald's, and tell him what's bothering him so much that you want to have your gun when he's around! ...hope you work things out!
