My friend is an agent and is really sweating me about this. I am selling my house and she wants to get a referral fee from the agent I am using but I found him on my own. I don't mind doing it if it is customary, but I don't want to be bullied if it is not.

Referral expenses are somewhat user-friendly among RE experts. I had yet another Realtor I met at a coaching type deliver me a referral immediately, if I sell this man or woman a sources, he will receive 20% value on the sale.

If she didn't refer you to the agent then she is breaking the rules of real estate agents. Your state Board of Realtors would be interested in knowing if she is requesting you to do something that she didn't earn. If you did say she referred you then the money comes out of the agent that you found, and is doing all the work. Don't help her, she hasn't earned anything. Good Luck

No. If she didn't actually refer you to the agent it is illegal and unethical for her to receive a referral fee. If your friend was an agent why didn't you use her?

Sounds like your friend is tight on money.

If it doesn't affect you financially, give her the referral. It's not going to kill you.. and it'll help her.

Next time you need a favor, you should call her. :)
