Alex is using mini-cassettes from "Deutsche Gramophone",
when he relaxes after his ride ridie ridie ...
but they ( those cassettes ) are only made
for voice-recording, not for the
music (of Beethoven) ... it is just a gag by Stanley Kubrick
to confuse the public ... like the "flying pencil" in "2001"

I think its just some kind of futuristic envisonment of what Stanley Kubrick thought people would be using. I watched the movie recently and thought "Man they got that wrong, it's all about MP3 players now." I didn't like the movie compared to the book, but it is by no means the worst movie ever, I have seen much worse.

It's been a while since i've watched the movie, but im pretty sure he is using 8-track tapes.

Honestly,I think they are just props created by the director,back then the only "tapes" around really were 8-track
