Hey, I am the same as you. i used to bite them, and if I bend them now, they are soft. But I stoped biting my nails about 4 months ago, and now they are REALLY LONG! I just stoped biting them, becuase my grandma's had a story : when she was younger she buit her nails and they puffed up and she had to go to the emergency room and get shots and needles stuck into the wound. So that motivated me to stop. You can buy bad tasting nail-polish, or get a fresh manicure that you dont want to bite. I also use nail hardener, so they are getting soft. Also, try not to bend them, just let them be and they will get harder. One last thing, if you still can't stop biting:
1) Sit on your hands when you are
or THE BEST CHOICE
2) Make a deal with your parents or someone that if you don't bite them for a week, or 2 weeks, or any time, that you can go get a fresh manicure, or something that you want. Make rewards for yourself. =]
Good luck!

The cheapest thing to strengthen your nails is Jello, or gelatin, or even egg whites. You know you have to stop biting them, right? So just do it. If you need help, there's all kinds of aids you can get over the counter or use a rubber band and snap your wrist each time you catch yourself nibbling on your nails. If that doesn't work, dip your fingers in pepper or chili powder or something that when you take that nibble, it gives you a negative response.

Take a multi-vitamin every day - this will help to give your body the vitamins it needs to make your nails grow long and strong. Try not to bite your nails - I know it's hard to break a habit like that, but you can do it! :) Also, put a clear (or colored if you would like) nail polish onto your nails - this will help to give them an extra coat, so they can grow. Trust me, I have long, beautiful nails - and these 3 tips never fail! :)

Nailtiques makes a small bottle of nail hardener. You put it on once or twice a day and you will see results!
The cheaper version but almost just as effective is made by OPI it's called Nail Envy. Same as Nailtiques you put it on your nails once or twice a day.
They are both clear polishes and they work great.
