in that fallow period between 1960-1964...when rock n roll was a very endangered species...del shannon hit #1 with "runaway" and kept the flame alive til the arrival of the fab four...that's my vote...OH...and del shannon was the first artist to hit the american charts with a lennon-mccartney song..."from me to you" in 1963!

Anything by The Doors...so I'm picking "Light My Fire" just cause it's the most popular and known. (I also have all their albums of which I'm very proud, though I don't own a record player anymore!)
