I am an aspiring actor - but I have no experience at all!
I really want to get involved in local theatre productions, like helping out backstage or even being in a small non-speaking role. I don't want to get paid, I just want to be involved & be able to see professionals working their craft.
Any suggestions as to how I can go about getting involved in the Sydney theatre scene?

Check the paper for when auditions for new shows are being held, then show up and offer to help.
Call your local university's theater department and ask about helping backstage.on their next production.
