I am going to get my daughter's footprint tattooed on my ankle but the question is...Should I wait till she's old enough to write her name and have them copy and tattoo her name in HER handwritting (very special). Or just have them write in underneith the footprint in a cute font?
If I wait to have it done in her handwritting (at least 5 years) I would have a plain footprint for 5 years, and I will have my other daughter's on my other ankle.

I think some people are misunderstanding.
Im getting the footprint anyways, what i wanted to know is if I should have her name in her handwritting or just have the tattoo artist write it underneith.

I think you should wait until she can write her name that sounds very pretty and it is very unique not too many people do that, awesome idea and very creative. My sister has her two children names around her wrist as a bracelet and her new born baby's name is her anklet and i thought that was so very cute. (EDIT) One more thing you can get the footprints now and just wait for the name later.

Well, you could do the tattoo of her footprint now with her name underneath and then come back when she's older and have the handwriting put over it or under it then. I kinda like the script idea myself but also waiting five years sucks. Since the tattoo is just for you mainly as a rememberance, a momento of your daughter, and you'll know it's her footprint, I'd say go with the footprint and then had the script done later.

go ahead and get the footprint now, people will know it's your daughters then you have five yrs to decide if you should wait or just fill it in. By the way that's a great idea for a tattoo I love it.
I have a friend who let his son tattoo on him, however he's covered in tattoos but it's cute to see it.

Perminant physical features such as a footprint, handprint, or a picture of a face is far more precious then handwriting that will change over time.

i think it will be sloppy if you wait till she can write it but if you dont mind the sloppy ness than go for it and wait. But if i were you i would get it in a cute font under the footprint. thats such a great idea for a tattoo!! good luck!

I think u should just get the plain footprint and then when she is old enough to write her name, get her to write her name for u and put it under her footprint.

I would do it now while she has a handwriting of a 5 year old. Then you could remember what her handwriting looked like at that age for years to come...

You could always get the footprint now, and when she's old enough to write her name, you can include it to the original tattoo.

That is so sweet and cute. I should do that with my kids. But I don't want to copy you. They usually write their name kind of big at first. If you use her handwriting, make shore they can shrink it down. Best of luck. I hope it turns out great. It sounds like it will.
