HI,
What is the best way to get this stuff from your yard for good? We have tried "Brush B Gone" and one other thing cant remember. The leaves were gone for alittle while, there back!Couple of our trees had it growing all the way to the top we chopped the vines and it killed what was high in the tree.
We just moved on this property last fall. no one has lived here for 15yrs. Its a mess!

Get specific stuff for poison ivy at Home Depot. We had the same problem. We originally got a 5 gallon thing of "weed killer" but apparently poison ivy isn't technically a weed. They have little squirt bottles (the size of an average bottle of Windex) that works. You might need more than one bottle, but try that. It's better to just pay a little more for something specifically targeted to kill it, than keep trying different things. Plus, if it doesn't work, you can take it back to Home Depot and they'll give you a refund.

I've also heard vinegar works and so does bleach. But I'm not sure what the bleach might do to the ground and if it would affect future growth if you wanted grass or a garden or something.

Just be really careful getting rid of it in the meantime. Poison ivy and it's relatives are extremely virulant plants with thousands of varieties, so even something that doesn't look like poison ivy really could be a type of it. And even if it's not poison ivy at all, the "toxic" oils could have rubbed off onto other plants. The oil doesn't wash off easily, so if it rubs against the side of a tree or something that doesn't get hit with much rain, you could pick it up from there. If you aren't extremely afflicted by it, you can try covering up with long clothes, gardening gloves and protective goggles and pulling it out by the roots as much as possible before spraying the ground and surrounding areas. But again, be careful, some people can catch it even if the wind just blows across it and picks up some of the poison in the air. About 20% of the population isn't affected by it at all, so see if you can find a relative or neighbor that isn't susceptible to it to do it for you. We had my boyfriend pull a lot of it out. Just take a shower afterwards and wash everything just in case.

Good luck!!! Poison ivy is evil! One day it will be extinct... I hope!

Just read your additional details. I'm not sure what brand it was that we used. I don't think it was Round-Up though. See if you can find a different brand. And if it doesn't work, make sure you contact the store or company and get a refund. You shouldn't have to pay for something that didn't work. Best bet is to just try and get it dug up then spray the rest of the ground to prevent it from growing in the future. Do it after it rains though, maybe that will keep some of the oils on the ground so they won't get picked up in the wind or anything. Good luck!!!!!!
