Control crickets, wasps and other 'nuisance' critters with these tips
Because gardening brings us in contact with a variety of life forms, sometimes The Garden Club becomes more like the critter column. After a question about carpenter bees a couple of weeks ago, reader Jim Finn called to ask about another household nuisance — cave crickets, and how to get rid of them.
Cave crickets enjoy cool, damp, dark habitats, such as caves, or the basement or garage of your home. They are fairly large (adults can be up to 1½ inches in length) and have a hump-backed appearance, which explains their other common name, camel crickets. According to information from the University of Missouri Extension, they come into your home in the fall looking for a place to spend the winter, and remain in basements, crawl spaces and other hiding places. They feed on decaying matter they may find there, and they don't cause any damage.
Cave crickets usually enter your home through cracks, crevices in the foundation or siding, poorly fitting windows or doors, vents and other small openings, so the best way to keep them out is by finding and sealing these entry points wherever possible. You can minimize cave cricket (and other types of cricket) habitat near your home by moving rocks, firewood and other types of clutter away from your house, according to University of Missouri Extension.
Because they are large, they are easy to catch and remove or kill. The extension service notes that crickets should always be removed after killing them so they don't become food for beetles, ants and other insects.
"Sticky traps have also been used successfully to capture and kill crickets, especially the camel cricket," according to the information, which was written by Richard M. Houseman in the Department of Entomology and can be found at http://muextension.missouri.edu/explore/agguides/pests/g07366.htm Insecticide sprays are not very effective, and are only a temporary solution.

okay, first light candles, one at each corner of your living room. now turn out all other lights and sit naked on the floor in the middle of the room. cross your legs and hold your right hand above your head. with your left hand, wave a small US flag and hum the tune from "Take Me Out To The Ball Game" in a monotone. keep your eyes closed and focus on the mental picture of the crickets hopping into Yankee Stadium. continue this for 44 minutes exactly. your right hand will be numb and you will no longer care where the @#%& crickets are. hope nobody takes your picture.... goodnight!

Then get a doberman dog to eat the cats.
Then get a bear to eat that.
