I think the most important thing is to make them; actually write them down.
When I was encouraged to write mine down, I was suprised what I came up with. I knew I liked to travel, for instance, but when I was asked to get specific, I wrote down "visit 50 countries before I'm 50." That's a tangable, measurable goal.

Without any goal, we wouldn't be able to live. I mean, we always some sort of goal in our mind. It can be short term or long term. An example os short term would be going to the movies this evening. A long term goal would be getting a job as a teacher. So u see, if u don't have any goal, u wouldn't know what u r doing!
The main thing to achieve them is to plan. Plan ahead abt ur goal and then do things in advance that will help you achieve it. If u want to be a doc, u have to take science subjects, learn well , do to uni. So these are the steps invovled in reaching that goal.
When u achieve a goal it improves ur self-esteem and incraes ur well-being. So it's very important.

It is important to be realistic about setting goals. First, you need to start with short term goals and how you plan to achieve them. Then move on to longer term goals. If you start out with short term goals then there is less of a chance that you will get overwhelmed and not succeed. Right now my short term goals are to finish this block of classes and move on to the next block. Then keep going until I finish college. My long term goal is that after graduation I plan to use my degree to get a good job that I can advance in.

Probably start with what a goal is and the importance of setting realistic goals. Then you can go into talking about achieving goals and rewarding ones self for their completion. The problem most people have with goals is that they do not set realistic goals.

I think that most people don't think about goals unless they reach a certain point in their lives. Things go very well for me, so I don't think about my goals. I work at my job and do the very best for my clients, and I know that some day, the right promotion will come along. I don't say that in 5 years I'll be.... I just know that someday, when God sees fit to bring the position along, I'll move up.

Your goal today should be to make yourself as valuable as you can through an education. The more education and titles, the more valuable you are. Your question came under higher education, so that's why I am answering it this way.
