Taking the thermostat out was the wrong thing to do.Everything has a temperature of which relays are activated.Is the vehicle actually running hot or is the temp gaughe show hot?

You can't run it with out the thermostat. The water goes through it too fast. Go get a new thermostat.

Ck the fans, water pump and put a thermostat back in, helps in cooling.. will run hotter without one...Ck the book for the right therm.... Good Luck ROB

wait until ur car is cool. pop da hood n open carefully da radiator if u see luquid right of the back den sumthin else is wrong but it sounds lyk its radiator fluid go to pepboys autozone etc. n buy radiator fuild 50/50 thats already mixed wit water n just fill it up.
lemme kno wa was da problem n if that was it

My guess would be to look at the 1, probably 2 electric fans. When either of them quit, UP goes the temperature. 1 fan is usually hidden underneath.

Go get a flow test. You either have a bad thermo, bad pump or blocked water system. Double check air flow to radiator to make sure you don't have debris blocking.

Firstly, it's a Mitsubishi. The typical Eclipse engine last appx.40,00 miles. Buy or trade for Honda, Toyota, or Nissan.

there are a few possibilities
I would bet on fouled radiator
you MIGHT be able to improve it with a good radiator backwash
you might need a new radiator

...it could be lots of things: dirty air filter, damaged head and/or gaskets, binding brakes, bad oil pump and/or filter, bad water pump, dirty carburrator, dirty fuel injectors, etc...
...look for leaks of oil, air, water, other fluids to help pin-point the problem...
