What are we..? Think about it, our brain is a mass of goo..and we all have a different personality.. we all have our own features, likes, tastes... and yet, where does all this come from? Where is it stored? What do you think we are?

I've lately modified my beliefs to this new theory I've been pondering. But I need more time to fully think about it. I've started to believe, after extensively studying biology and different species, that what we think of as consciousness needs modification. I've started to think of consciousness as the collective wills and needs of every living cell. I came to this line of thinking when studying single-celled algae that live in colonies. The colony has one consciousness, one goal to all survive, however, the being is not multi-celled, it is not one being, it is a collection of many beings. We are a collection of MANY different cells, and they all share the same agenda, to keep the collective (our whole bodies) alive. Some cells sacrifice themselves, commit suicide, to save the whole. Some cells kill off others (eating cancer cells or other infected cells) which would hurt the whole collective. I think the soul is the feeling we get from looking past just our neurons firing in our brain, really feeling the other cells in our body and their needs and how they work to fuel and maintain the rest of us.
I think life is born in one cell, but a soul, or a collective consciousness is born in a group of cells all living together and acting as one being. There is harmony there, more than symbiosis, and I think that is the core of the soul.

We are basically mammals with brains that are more highly developed for intellectual thinking than those of all other life forms on this planet. That's not to say other live forms don't think. It's just that the human brain gives us humans a greater ability to do so. I don't believe we have a soul any more than I believe our closest relative, the chimpanzee, has a soul. But I do believe we have a very marvelous brain, and a capacity for greatness that will someday take us to the stars and beyond.

Good one. I think we are all spirit who has taken on human form.so we can learn to live together with human egos, conquer our challenges, and evolve our planet to a higher plane of spirituality.
I think the soul is what we are and will always be. It contains everything that we started in life with and adds only those things that have reached beyond normal in mental/emotional growth. In addition it releases the spirit at our physical death and returns to our Creator.

we have a soul, all that is stored in the brain but that is just the way God made us He is a great God who implanted many questions in us to see who will have faith despite all the questions that can be asked
I believe that our souls will move on and the body will go back to the ground where we were made from to begin with ashes to ashes dust to dust.

This comes from our upbringing and our insatiable thirst for things we never had if you look at it scientifically, but I do believe that our ability to think and our subconscious selves comes from somewhere else which could be considered a soul or to some, evolution...or something

It is a separate thing than our spirit
Our total being is Spirit, Body and soul (mind)

yes i think every one has a soul, you know im not really spiritual or religious at all, but i still feel that you go somewhere when you die, and i feel that if your a bad person , you know theres karma, but as for a soul i really feel that we all have one and if you give it away , your really giving it away, like that whole thing on the simpsons, where bart sells his soul to milhouse for somthing, then feels like he has lost himself, well i think we are wondering souls , you die your reincarnated, you give it away, and wel your just S.O.L. ,
i dont think it is stored anywhere its just there in you , in all of you , not one particular part.

you are here not by chance but by Gods choosing. his hand formed you and make you the person you are. hs compares you to no one else. you are one of a kind you lack nothing that his grace cant give you. he has allowed you to be here at this time in history to fulfill his special purpose for t his generation.
