I have curly hair that's a little finer than most black womens' hair (I'm not racially mixed) and it's growing out from a very short hair cut right now. because of the humidity it LOOKS like a 'fro when I wake up but that's not on purpose. I have seen black women with GOREOUS natural hair that is an afro but more updated- maybe longer and they may wear a stylish scarf or headband. I think "nappy hair" is beautiful when black women know how to CARE for it...it's a LOT of work but its worth it! I wish my hair was kinky so I could wear dreadlocks but it's too "straight". and people wish they had my hair- so dumb.

Oh yeah I saw Goapele on stage about 2 months ago in VA. She is beautiful but I'm not jealous of anyone famous or not. her braids were hot though! and so are her locks! : )

I wear an afro whenever I take my hair out of braids for a little while. I always wear it it with a scarf because I have a LOT of thick hair. It's not quite as much as Leela James' hair, but close enough. If my hair is relaxed, it's a little past shoulder length. All hair stylists compare my hair to Oprah's massive follicles. I just got braids yesterday, but when I take them out, afro time. It took a lot of courage the first time I walked out of my house with an afro, but now I rock it! =)

Definitely. I'm wearing one right now. It's just all around better for your hair than constant processing, where three or four months down the road, you start finding patches in your hair. And it's cute too. ;) After all, that's the hair God intended me to have, so why not enjoy it? Don't listen to caramel. The way I see it, strong women have strong hair! It's just a matter of whether or not you can handle it!

Yea, I would wear a fro if my hair could get that way!! I love that style and mine always comes out kinky when I take my braids out, but to do it I'd have to cut all my hair off and start all over...

It just depends if the style suits you. Be prepared for alot of eyes though, because you don't see that everyday, I know I would look, it would be something to see.

btw,....I love Crackah McHonkey~!

I wouldn't, its ugly. It looks nappy to me.Thats why they have relaxers now. If there were no relaxers I would say yes cause we couldn't do anything about it.
