i have MAJOR Virus and spyware problems and i need a program to remove it. PLUS i need a firewall To keep it from happening again. (I have an old slow computer

AVAST! Anti-Virus
For firewall:

For antispyware: (please install every one of them)

They are all completely FREE.
I have the links for the two antivirus and the firewall download in the source, since they hide the free version download page quite well.
You can just google/yahoo the antispyware programs, and you should be able to get them on your own.

Keep your own Anti-virus up to date, and check the status regularly. You might try AVG for free from http://www.grisoft.com/doc/1
Get and update several Anti-spyware solutions. I use AD-AWARE and SpyBot Search & Destroy. I use the free versions from http://www.download.com Update and run these regularly. Especially IMMEDIATELY after an upexpected pop-up.
Download and install FireFox free from http://www.mozilla.com This is a browser that is safer to use than IE. Use this for general surfing and google searching. Only use IE when you MUST have IE, such as Windows Updates.
If you have Windows XP with SP2, activate the Windows firewall and check the status. If you don't, get Zone Alarm the free version from http://www.zonelabs.com
Take these steps to keep your computer ALIVE.

I recommend Avast Antivirus theve been in business for 15 years.
www.avast.com i ve been using avast for over 2 years and never had any viruses. What you need to do is go over to www.avast.com go to the home edition and download it free yes you heard it free for one year when the license is about to expire it will notify you and go and relicense free and you get another year free its not a gimmick it's made by alwil software. it can do the job its not as good as the pro version but its still free.
For firewalls i recommend basic zonealarm go to zonelabs.com click on home&home office go all the way to the bottom and it mentions free zonealarm its basic protection but it protects you from hackers and its free.
I hope this helps you get out of the major infestation,however later get to yahoo and get the software named spybot search and destroy. Check on yahoo search for it and download it you could also have a major spyware infestation so take care of it also download adaware from lavasoft for free from lavasoft and spyware blaster this should help you alot so get going!

Go to www.lavasoftusa.com/software/adaware and download Ad-Aware to remove the spyware. Go to zonelabs.com and download Zonealarm firewall. Go to Mozilla.org and download Firefox to use as your browser, you will receive fewer spyware through this browser than with Internet Explorer. All are free.

As you've said that you have a MAJOR virus, you may also put into consideration to format your system (but of course, you have all the drivers, softwares on hand before doing it). Your system will be VERY CLEAN in this way.
Install also the ff:

(2) ZONE ALARM

Hi, there maybe something virus with your IE.
i recommand you to try firefox. which is more safe than IE.
it can block that annoying ads and disable any virus on webpage. as you know, most virus are spread through internet.
firefox is much smaller than IE, so it run faster than IE.
