Is the Super Mario 64 an exact version of the Super Mario Brothers for the Super Nintendo? Is The New Super Mario Bros a different game altogether? Are there any other Super Mario games that I missed since Super Mario Bros from Super Nintendo? Thanks.

What is a platform game?

Super Marios Bros. DS is a platform game, while Super Mario 64 is not. Besides that, they are two entirely separate games. Super Mario 64 DS is derived from Super Mario 64, while Super Mario Bros. DS is based on Super Mario Bros.

Hope that cleared things up.

Sorry I didn't explain that!

A platform game is where there's a little guy running along, almost always from left to right, on the screen, where there is a "platform" to run on. This was the format almost all 2D adventure games used. Also platform games usually have a set path, while other adventure games like Super Mario 64 DS do not, you just have to find your way around. Keep in mind there are exceptions to some of these "rules".

Hope that's better.

New Super Mario Bros is like the original Super Mario Bros, and Super Mario DS is like Super Mario 64. Super Mario DS is a 3d world and a lot different than New Super Mario Bros. New Super Mario Bros is a 2d world.

First, don't ask so many questions in Comments. Second, the Super Mario 64 DS is different from New Super Mario Bros. because it is entirely 3D while New Super Mario Bros. is a side-scroller and 3D, which makes it 2.5D.
