Hmm, i am not sure if this is a glitch in IE7 or a security feature. It is very common for hackers to hijack a browser's homepage and/ or default search page. Many third party security software programs prevents hijacking by locking the homepage and search page. It is possible this is a security measure also found in IE7. First try to look for the option to "unlock" the homepage and then change your homepage.

My other suggestion would be to change the registry key which corresponds to the homepage for IE. First create a system restore point before you do anything. Go to Start menu > Run > type "regedit" (with out the quotation marks) > [OK]. Scroll down to:
HOTKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet_Explorer\Main

On the rightside panel, right click on "Start Page" and choose Modify. A new window will appear, under "valued data", enter your new homepage (i.e. http://www.yahoo.com) > [OK] > close the RegEdit window.

go to my computer and press control panel, press network and internet connection, then press internet options, you can now change msn.com to yahoo.com at the home page, then press apply and ok
