Keep your own Anti-virus up to date, and check the status regularly.

Get and update several Anti-spyware solutions. I use AD-AWARE and SpyBot Search & Destroy. I use the free versions from http://www.download.com Update and run these regularly. Especially IMMEDIATELY after an upexpected pop-up.

Download and install FireFox free from http://www.mozilla.com This is a browser that is safer to use than IE. Use this for general surfing and google searching. Only use IE when you MUST have IE, such as Windows Updates.

If you have Windows XP with SP2, activate the Windows firewall and check the status. If you don't, get Zone Alarm the free version from http://www.zonelabs.com

Take these steps to keep your computer ALIVE.

I have DSL also, so hopefully I can help with your problem. You should try to clear the cache every so often in Internet Explorer and delete the cookies as well and make sure you delete the Temporary Internet Files too. Visit this Website: www.download.com, and download for free Abexo Registry Cleaner and use that to clean your registry of unwanted files. That should help speed up your PC more. If not then you may have some viruses or Spyware infecting your computer, so make sure you do some scans and keep your software up to date.

Just cause you have DSL doesnt really mean its fast. There are different speeds for DSL and you need to call your local cable company and ask them if you can upgrade to the fastest speed or it could be that you need to run a clean-up on your hard drive. You may have alot of things on your computer especially if you download things alot.

Clear your cache and do a check for spy-ware. To do this, on your Internet explorer address bar, at the very top, click on tools, then Internet options. Then click, delete cookies, hit yes. Click delete Internet files, check the box for off line content, click yes.

Download an anti-spy-ware program like "ad-aware SE" and check your computer.

Some webpages can load slower then others, as webpages with heavy traffic and low bandwidth tend to be this way. If anything, try a few different sites to be sure it isn't just the one website that's slow.
