Well Grateful Dead are the gods and creators of the jam band scene to me. I think Phish is incredible though and has done a spectacular job of modernizing and keeping the scene alive.

Actually, between 1985 and 1989, the greatest jam band between Euclid and Brookhurst,(east and west) and the Orangethorpe and the 91FWY,(north and south), was ON2U!
Their eclectic repertoire ranged from surf,punk,speed metal,pop,reggae,and new wave. They are in the early stage of revival, with an on line CD in the future!
Forget No Doubt!
They are the original tragic kingdom rockers!
