Do you mean ex-boyfriend or ex-husband. If it is your ex-husband, you may need and want to remain cordial with him, especially if the two of you have children and are sharing custody/visitation rights. While the two of you may have decided not to continue together you still would have children to raise and for their sake it is best to be friendly with each other, while respecting each other now has an individual life.
If you mean ex-boyfriend, while not usual, you can remain friendly and cordial with him. The two of you would need to be mature about each other and realize that eventually the two of you may start dating or even be involved with another person and be able to handle the feelings you might get when seeing the ex with another person.

depends, if your going to get back the same feelings then no because you might ruin something that you have something really good. Dont do anything foolish like that because exs bring back memories and can hit you in the weak spot and im sure you wouldnt like if he spoke to his ex gf

It all depends on what kind of contact? If it is just to say Hi ,how ya doing, whats new then it is ok but if you mean physical contact no it is not COOL.
