I'm 17. I usually don't have cramps when I'm on my period. I woke up with my period this morning, though. It was like, 15 or 20 days late. I was having mild cramps, so I lay down with a hot water bottle for 10 minutes. Then I went to school. I ate a big lunch, and then the cramps intensified sooo much. I threw up about a half-hour after lunch and then I continued to stay in class. However, when the cramping moved from slightly below my navel to right above and on my groin, I started crying in class and when I tried to stand up to go to the nurse's office, I fell to the ground. Two of the other girls had to support me and walk me to the nurse's office. I talked to one of my friends, and she said that a late period can cause you to have killer cramps. Could she be right? I'm just a bit unsure since I usually don't get cramps.

Irregular periods are common especially in teen girls. Whenever I am late, I usually have worse cramps too. Lately mine have gotten so bad that I have to stay home from work/school. However, if you are experiencing that much pain as to where you can't even support yourself, you should probably make an appointment with a obgyn doctor. It might not be anything serious, but it won't hurt to get checked out. They might be able to recommend something for the pain and cramps.

You should make an appointment with a gynecologist. It could be anything....endometriosis, ovarian cyst, etc. Or it could be nothing at all. I'm 42 and it seems my periods have different symptoms every month. When I was younger I used to have breast tenderness, but not any more. Sometimes I have cramps and sometimes I don't. You just never know what to expect, but you shoudl really get it checked out.

Late periods can cause many things. I have never heard of menstrual cramps being that severe. I use to get them so badly that I would vomit but never double over like that.

I think that you should see a doctor just to make sure you are okay.

I hope that things go better for you. Good luck to you!:)
