i mean you see them everywhere but where did they come from are they on a tv show, game, cartoon, ect?

Anime comes from Japan. It's the Japanese cognate for animation. Anime is animated video, like cartooons. Unlike American cartoons, however, the Japanese consider anime a multi-generational medium, like live-action movies. You'll find anime for young children to mature audiences only and everywhere in between.

anime that is seen in the states are usually imported from japan. they are some anime shows on adult swim on cartoon network and online.

They are Asian television, mainly Japanese. A lot of their television is animated (what we call anime). Most anime series are based on manga, basically Asian based comic books.
