I am far from Goth. 24, a mother, a cosmetologist.. and a wife. If you looked in my closet right now.. all you would see is black. It is the only color I wear.. honestly. I love black because it brings out my features and it matches with everything. If they give you a hard time, who cares!! Your 9.. they're probably 9.. in the real world.. (Out of school).... people don't care.. you are you... and be you. Someday when you're older you will appreciate that and so will everyone else. Black rocks.. who cares what they think!!!

Simply inform them that preferring black doesn't necessarily mean you're goth. Personally, I'd say ignore them and save your breath. There's people like that everywhere. Sometimes it's best to just give them a 'oh you poor thing' look and shake your head. =)
I'm much older than you, but I used to always wear black too. Difference is I was considered a devil worshiper and so much so that parents wouldn't let their children be outside if I was around. I was and still am a good person, but people didn't want to take the time to know me. That's why I say that you might as well ignore them.

Wear a variety of colors. Black is the "color of the goth" in America. Stop wearing so much of it. Don't wear all black ever!

It's called stereotyping, and as Americans it seems that we are programed to do that. We look at people and put them in a catagory as a snob or a hippie. I'm afraid it's been done since the beginning of time. Fortunately now, they don't burn you at the stake if they think you are a witch! It's not what other people think about you that counts, ultimately, it's what you think about yourself. A confident and friendly attitude can show people what a really great and smart person you really are, and if they don't like that...oh, well, it's their loss. They are missing out on your great personality and tributes!

[Look at my avatar ;) ]My brother calls me goth, too. Just because you wear black doesn't mean you're goth. Tell them you'll put an evil goth spell on them to scare them away.
