International research in many countries and cultures reports a consistent finding that people think to be 'rich' you need an income level that is approximately twice your own income level--no matter what that is. Comfort is subjective, and of course the answer depends on where you are in the U.S.

Depends on where in the US you are wanting to live. Cost of living vary so wide across the US it hard to assume how much money it take to live in the US. Compare the south such as Mississippi, Lousiana,Alabama, more than likely a person making 35,000 to 45,000 per year can live somewhat comfortable, compae it the the Noth East Coast New York, New Jersey, Mass to live comfortable a pereson would need about 70,000 to 250,000 per year depending on the location with in those states.
That is just my best guess. I lived a couple of years in the south and have traveled and worked through the north several times.

Being completely honest here - isn't it all relative anyhow? Really, when you think about it... Whether you make $30,000 a year, or $200,000 a year... Is it really possible in your eyes for YOU to earn TOO MUCH MONEY? Bill Gates may be the extreme exception here folks! If you make 30k a year, and can live within your means, isn't that what's really important? And if you make $200k a year, would you likely have to worry more about security expenses, financial planning, estate planning, legal fees, etc.....???? Sure, you might be able to drive a more elite car, and live in a gated community, but comfort is certainly relative... It's however YOU choose to define it! I hope this helps?

It totally depends on where you live. A house in Boston costs 350000 for a dump and the same house in Cleveland OH cost about 100000. The mortgage difference is almost 30000 a year, so you can;t really say.
It also really depends on Comfortable. I would say a decent apartment, a casual daily night life, food in the house, standard technology in the house is living well. In Boston, that costs a minimum of 35,000 if single and about 60000 for a couple.
In less expensive areas, you could probably get away with 25000 for single and 45 for couple.
Too many variables really

It really depends on where you want to live and what you consider comfortable.
Here where I live, you should earn around 60k a year to live ok with a family of 3 and a few pets. Obviously if it's just you and no pets, then somewhat less.
That would be much higher in much of california or in some eastern states/areas.
Hope that this helps.

That depends on so much. Some people can earn $100,000 a year and still be up to their ears in debt. I think its more a matter of money management and living within your means, than anything else. However, you do have to be able to live up to a certain standard of living and that varies depending on where you live.

Depending on where you live.
A city with good public transport = rural area with huge commutes.
You need about $3000/month for a meager existence.
A comfortable life requires $5000+/month.

Money can not by comfort.
You should focus on more important things like love, friendship, things money can't buy.
It is true what they say, the best things in life are free like happiness and that feeling you get when you eat ice cream too fast.
... Actually the second one isn't that great.
