When I first got onto NASCAR (mid 90's) I actually liked Mikey. He was in that black no. 7 car (?). But as the years went on I began to realize what a "kiss-***" he is. He got a little better on the plate tracks with DEI but we all can see that it was DEI who was good - not Waltrip. He gets made fun of because he mentions about 80 sponsors in one sentence. That's why he's still racing. He can't drive a race car but he's a people person. When he bought his way into that one race I actually started losing my own intensity for NASCAR. How could they let him do that? It just goes to show that if you're buying your way into a race...you're crap.
Unfortunately I missed the Loudon race so I wont know what he did until I see the highlights. But I've also noticed that Michael will never disagree with a rule change. He's ALWAYS on NASCAR's side. (Ever meet these kinds of people at work?) At least guys like Smoke and Harvick express themselves. They don't have to kiss NASCAR's butt to stay in the sport because unlike Waltrip, they can drive.
I could keep ranting about guys who are in the sport because of their name or their charities (Petty) and can't really drive, but this answer is getting long

Ah - some younsters here posting I see. Michael was and is a good driver. This man has won Daytona. He has too much on his plate this year trying to get off the ground with his own team and all. And if you want to talk about whining look for any Busch brat, Tony Stewart, or Matt Kenseth for the whine award. Mikey is a class act and always will be. I'd like to see him follow his brother into broadcasting but I think he will leave off driving in a few years and manage his race cars.

Michael Waltrip is truly over rated as a driver. The absolute only reason he has a ride, and eventually team ownership/driver, is because he can attract the sponsors. I find it really sad that the sport has come to the point that the sponsorship money is more important than the quality of the driver. I really wish he would fire himself as the driver of his new team and put somebody in the seat that can actually race competitively.

I think my 5 year old could drive better than Micheal!! Blahahahaha what a dumb a s s after he wrecked while under caution. I am HAPPY Toyota agreed already to have Mikey wreck their cars for them next year. I think Dale Jarrett might want to rethink being teamed up with a jack *** like waltrip. Again what an IDIOT!!!!! Poor Napa BLAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHHA

No! I mean come on the guy wrecked under caution! What the hell? He comes in contact with someone or something several times every race!
He seems like a nice guy and all (in a goober-ish sort of way), but I guess it's true what they say about nice guys...they finish last!

He needs a talking to, that's for sure. He deserves to race as long as he makes the cut, but he sure shouldn't be able to buy himself into the race again.

Not a great way to shift to his new Toyota ride. If he does real good next year then it will look like he did not give a darn this year and does not deserve his paycheck. I would like to see more effort.

I seriously don't know why he's still racing. I mean he wrecks in just about every race. I think he should just quit now before he hurts himself or someone else.
